About the Leadership Academy
In accordance with our mission statement, CAAASA plays a crucial role in advocating for the educational needs and concerns of African American students in California. It does this by focusing on identifying and addressing critical issues through public policy and leadership development. This work is essential for promoting equity and ensuring that all students have access to quality education and opportunities for success.
The leadership academy is a professional growth program for administrators and teacher leaders of color (but not exclusively) to support and develop their leadership skills. The academy will assist with career development/growth with a focus on retention, promotion and the recruitment of other educational leaders looking to expand upon educational equity.
Accordingly, CAAASA’s Leadership Academy incorporates issues of equity, inclusion and belonging to foster an inclusive and supportive environment, not just for students but for our educational leaders.
Each Leadership Academy will provide a combination of rich, research-based education theory and practical strategies to ensure that participants gain a comprehensive understanding of leadership principles while also learning how to apply them effectively in real-world scenarios. Adding immense value, each Leadership Academy will be facilitated by leaders in the field so that participants can benefit directly from the experiences and insights of experienced professionals. The year-long duration of the academies allows for sustained learning and development, providing participants with ample time to absorb information, practice new skills, and receive feedback.
The following Leadership Academies will be offered:
-
Aspiring Administrators
-
Aspiring Superintendent
