CAAASA Services
The California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators has continuously worked to transform education to equitably serve black children and other children of color for more than 30 years. CAAASA has had the privilege of collaborating with schools across California to bring the best educational practitioners to classrooms, professional development, and student programs through our extensive list of offerings. Our licensed practitioners and partners provide extensive support to schools across the state spanning from basic needs resources for families to academic support programs aligned to California State LCFF priorities, Prop 28 Arts and Music in Schools (AMS), and locally funded District Plans such as BSAP.

Academic Student Support
Through our partners, CAAASA provides tutoring before, during, and after school hours, one-on-one and group mentoring, and virtual support with peer advisors for students of all grade levels. To specifically support the advancement of mathematics mindsets, CAAASA also provides a proprietary math success program through STEMulate Solutions. The program works with students across grade levels to build a deep understanding of math concepts through experiential learning and cultural relevance, resulting in students embracing math for the first time, leading to math success.
College and Career Preparation
In partnership with the National College Resources Foundation (NCRF) CAAASA provides personalized college application support, college readiness workshops, and partnerships with HBCUs through the Black College Expo. With NCRF, schools also have access to a one-of-a-kind college and career experience called The Movement Enrichment Program. The Movement Enrichment Program (TMEP) is an NCRF initiative that confronts the disparities in the educational system, workforce, and economic deficiencies in one. They work with students of all grade levels to improve their academic performance, while guiding students towards positive post-secondary pursuits. The team’s approach is to provide holistic comprehensive intervention, mentoring, tutoring, and college and career planning.
Family Engagement
CAAASA partners provide families with innovative workshops that build connections between students, parents, and schools as parents are co-creators of the learning experience. Workshops spanning topics from, Cultivating Caring and Effective Parent-Teacher and Home-School Partnerships, Getting your child scholarship ready, College and career readiness; to Financial literacy, Family Math Nights, and Positive Parent Discipline, are just part of the catalog schools can select from to meet the needs of their community.
Health & Wellness
In CAAASA’s 30 years of service to the Southern California community and beyond, the need for health and wellness services continues to grow faster than any other need which CAAASA meets through our CAAASA Cares program. Our mission is to empower communities through education, advocacy, and direct health services, ensuring everyone has access to the resources and support needed to lead a healthy life.
Through partnering with CAAASA Cares, multiple routes of access to integrated health services can be provided to students and the community at large:
-Establishing school based health services for students including physicals, general
health visits, mental health resources, and preventative care from licensed clinicians.
-Community health services including management of chronic illnesses such as diabetes and asthma, minor illness and injury
care, oral health assessments and treatment, vision screenings, mental health counseling ,behavioral health counseling, and tele-health access.
-Community event where students and families in the community have access to free eyeglasses, groceries, diapers, school immunizations, CPR Training, dental cleanings, mental health resources, school immunizations, and blood pressure checks.
Professional Development
Since inception, CAAASA has worked in service of its mission to improve equity in education for black children and children of color. Though the language and approach to equitable education has changed multiple times over decades, the needs and outcomes of black students andstudents of color have remained consistent due to the integral need for highly effective, culturally competent, liberation based education which is the foundation of professional development with CAAASA . The trainings can include anything from the Principles of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, Bias Training, and Building Inclusive Environments to Strategies for Culturally Responsive instruction, Assessing in a Culturally Responsive Manner, Language Diversity, or a combination of topics school leaders identify as the highest need for their site. CAAASA also provides Math Professional Development with a particular focus on culturally relevant math instruction, math mindset, confidence building, and meeting the needs of all students in a truly inclusive manner. Professional learning sessions involve teacher collaboration in addition to direct training on the cognitive processes involved in math, building relationships, leading interactive activities, and teaching strategies centered on the needs of black students and students of color.
Student Enrichment
CAAASA and its partners can provide After School Enrichment and Cultural Programs to engage and re-engage students in the school experience. Students of all grade levels will have access to lessons on DJing, Dance, African Dance, and Break Dancing with trained choreographers and dancers in the lane of music and performance. Students can also sign up for additional activities including E-Sports, hands on activities, and weekend workshops. To directly support students who would like a career pathway into Licensed Vocational Nursing or being a Medical Assistant, CAAASA partner Health Integrated Services can work collaboratively with school sites to support the Dual Enrollment program with local colleges.
